Nakhon Si Thammarat, or Nakhon, is the second largest province in the south of Thailand. This is an ideal place for tourists to travel to and enjoy cultural experience in some of the most significant temples of the country. The city of Nakhon Si Thammarat is the capital of province whose most of its history is the administrative center of Southern Thailand. This city is one of the most ancient cities, contains many buildings and historical remnants.
NakhonSi Thammarat plays an important role in Thai history. It is the center of Thai Buddhism perhaps at the earlier 3rd CE and an important area of trade with other countries as well. Besides the great history, this province also possesses many untouched beaches and two national parks with lush tropical forests, beautiful waterfalls and exotic wild animals.
NakhonSi Thammarat has a tropical climate. In February and March, it rains most of the months, but during the year, temperatures remain very warm and hot. When coming to Nakhon Si Thammarat, tourists can get around by motorbike since there are no tuk tuks here.
Go to visit Wat Phra Mahathat – the most famous temples in Nakhon Si Thammarat. This temple was built at the time of building the town. The city wall is also a highlight which can present about the city chronicle. It stretches over 400 meters from East to West and over 2000 meters from North to South. Nowadays, tourists can see only the northern gate with a short stretch of the city wall.
