For the most part, traveling from northern Laos to northern Vietnam (comfortably) meant you were going by air. Thanks to new improvements in infrastructure and border crossings, the road from Laos to Vietnam is now open for travel. While the journey make get bumpy at times, we believe it is well worth the experience!
14 days starts off with the beauty of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World-Heritage city that is known for its tranquil and welcoming atmosphere. Continue on to the other-worldly Plain of Jars region of Laos followed by the historic Vieng Xai region where wartime caves are still on display.
Cross over into Vietnam at Na Maew for the breathtaking journey into Mai Chau- one of the most picturesque places in northern Vietnam. Trekking and outdoor opportunities abound in this region, followed up with a visit to the ancient village of Ky Son before wrapping up the journey in the 1000-year old capital of Hanoi.
