Estimated Biking Distance = 38 Km up to Twete/ 65 Km Jetty to Jetty
Yangon Cycling Tour - TwenteEarly monring, we gather at Pansodan Jetty (around 06:00 am). At the jetty, we will test our bikes, then, we cross the Yangon river by local ferry to Dala where we start our cycling tour of the day. After cycling about one and a half hour, you will reach a junction on the Dala-Twente Hi-way Road.
From the junction, we will ride on about 4 kilometers up to Baung Daw Choke Pagoda, Mid-water Pagoda sitting on a small lake that shelters some pythons. After a short visit to that pagoda resting a little, the cycling trail will pass through the rice fields. The cycling trails will go through the villages whose people live from farming rice, betel leaves, rubber, tapioca, weaving bamboo baskets and so on. We can talk to the villagers on our way and ask how their life goes on.
After about an hour or more of Rice-fields crossing, on the way at somewhere in a village, you will see, the Oh Pho, or the Kiln used in the 8th or 9th Century approximately to produce the Glazed Pots, or Sint Oh, by which the region, Twente, was and is famed for.
Then, continue your bike to Twente. Twente is still housing the Ceramics Factories in a certain part of the town. If time permits, visit one or two of the factories to study how they prepare the ceramics, earth, and so on to get the best quality pots for exporting to nearby towns including the city of Yangon.
After excursion in the town, ride back to Pansodan Jetty along Twente Canal and back on the main road (or if too tired, you can get a local bus on your own arrangement).
